Nova Mineralis is a biotech start-up incubated by Fundación Ciencia & Vida that has developed a novel bioleaching technology that aims to recover more copper from chalcopyrite than the methods currently used in the industry. The company is currently testing its technology, at a larger scale, in partnership with prominent mining companies in Chile.
In early 2015 the company signed an agreement with the mining company Antofagasta Minerals. The details of this agreement are confidential but include technology transfer terms and conditions that the mining company can exercise at any point. In late 2015 Nova Mineralis signed a second agreement, similar to the one signed with Antofagasta Minerals, but with another important private international mining company that operates in Chile. We believe a transaction may take place during 2016.
