The Tree Lab to establish offices at Fundación

13/03/2008

On Thursday March 13, Dr. Erwin Krauskopf – prominent investigator of Fundación Ciencia para la Vida and member of Instituto de Biología Fundamental y Aplicada, MIFAB – established a joint venture agreement with Dr. Jenny Aitken, founder of “The Tree Lab”, a prestigious New Zealand-based company specialized in the commercial tissue culture propagation of vegetable species.

The company will set up offices at the Zañartu Technology Park and devote its efforts to the fruit and vegetable area, micropropagating plants to speed up their breeding process.

Jenny Aitken, partner of “The Tree Lab Chile”, stated that one of the reasons that motivated her to take on this new challenge in South America was her good work experience with Krauskopf, “it is essential to know the people with whom you venture into a project. I have known Erwin for eleven years and I know how devoted he is to his work and how knowledgeable he is on the topic.  We have many connections with people in Chile, a country that is strategically situated in the continent”.  She also noted that Santiago is an acknowledged and reliable financial center.

Krauskopf, also a Lecturer at Universidad Andrés Bello, indicated that this is a fundamental step in the use of new technologies and products, aimed to improve Chile’s exports in terms of production and quality.
