Carolina Torrealba was invited as speaker in science communication events at Universidad de Concepción

With the aim of promoting scientific awareness in the society and creating links between people who have interest in science communication, Divulgociencia and Universidad de Concepción launched the first scientific-literary contest “Tinta en el Matraz”, and Dr. Carolina Torrealba was the invited speaker of the ceremony. The event took place last March 23th in the Alejandro Lipschütz auditorium at Universidad de Concepción.

During her talk La historia de una mano, una mariposa y una cucaracha (o una biografía de la ciencia chilena)”, Torrealba exposed the stories behind three papers published by Chilean scientists inviting to a reflection on how our historical context determine scientific achievements.

Dr. Torrealba was also invited to share her personal experience as founder and director of Editorial Ciencia & Vida in the First Workshop of Scientific Communication organized by Divulgociencia and Universidad de Concepción, on March 24th.

The micro stories contest “Tinta en el Matraz” is intended to bring science from the academia to the general public through creative writing and is open to all the scientific community. For more information about the contest and Divulgociencia see this link.
