Nina Federoff – Science Advisor to the US State Department visits the Fundación

Dr. Nina Federoff, Science Adviser to the US Dept. of State, visited the Fundación Ciencia para la Vida on Tuesday, November 6. Dr. Federoff is also Science Adviser to USAID and was awarded the National Meda for Science from President Bush in July 2007. The award is the USA‚s highest honor for lifetime achievement in scientific research.

Dr. Federoff discussed with Dr. Pablo Valenzuela and other researchers, the fundamental and applied science being carried out at the Foundation including fish, forestry and fruit biotechnology, biomining, cancer research and bioinformatics. The visit was a follow-up on the CUSAB Bioinformatics Conference held at the Fundación last October under the aegis of the State Department.
