Sebastián Valenzuela

After obtaining his professional degree in Veterinary Medicine, Dr. Sebastián Valenzuela earned a PhD in Biotechnology from Universidad Andrés Bello developing a recombinant vaccine against the infectious salmon anemia (ISA) virus.
Since 2003 he has been the Head of the Animal Facility and Designated Veterinarian at Fundación Ciencia & Vida. He also participates in and advises research projects involving laboratory animals, human capital formation and bioethics. He is a member of the Institutional Bioethics and Biosafety Committee, the Joint Committee, and leader of the Crisis Committee for the COVID Pandemic.
During the years 2018 and 2019 he received a scholarship to attend the Institute for Laboratory Animal Management Program and obtained the international certification of the American Association for Laboratory Animal Science (AALAS) in the United States.
