Ciencia & Vida
Centro Ciencia & Vida (CCV) stands as one of Chile’s National Centers of Excellence in Scientific and Technological Research. It fosters social and economic development through cutting-edge research, entrepreneurship, and science education. We sustain that science is essential to shaping a knowledge-based economy and to achieving greater social equity. The expertise of our Research and Development groups in advanced technologies is recognized internationally and is a contribution to both academia and bioentrepreneurship. We aim to position ourselves as global leaders, cultivating an ecosystem in which scientists, entrepreneurs, students, and communicators converge to strengthen knowledge, innovation, and progress in the life sciences.
Governance
The strategic, administrative, and operational management of the CCV is overseen by a team. The Director leads decision-making and acts as a liaison with the Board. The Deputy Director coordinates internal communications and chairs the Administration & Finance Committee. The Manager supervises daily operations, human resources, communications, and infrastructure.

Principal Investigators
The scientific leadership of the CCV is held by a core of principal investigators who head laboratory teams and steer the strategy of the center across research clusters. They elect the Director and Deputy Director, and guide the accomplishment of strategic goals. They coordinate work plans, which are conducted in state-of-the-art facilities, delivering high-impact science and training. Full gender balance in the PI cohort strengthens excellence and governance.
Associated Investigators
A dynamic cohort of Associate Researchers complements the CCV core research group, strengthening discovery across clusters and facilities under PI leadership. Some researchers in this group are established in other institutions which have partnerships with USS that allow their participation in the CCV ecosystem, thus expanding the possibilities of collaboration in scientific work and training. There is full gender balance in this group of researchers also.
