At Centro Ciencia & Vida we believe that science should be at the heart of social and economic progress. That idea gave rise to Science 360°, a strategy that brings research together with training, culture and innovation.
In this way, what is discovered in our five research clusters can reach classrooms, hospitals, companies and people, and respond to the country's needs.
Each pillar supports the others: research opens questions, training prepares those who will answer them, international alliances broaden our reach, bioentrepreneurship turns results into new applications and public engagement shares them with society.
Research excellence in the biological sciences
More than 300 investigators work at the Center in biomedicine, microbiology and computational biology, organized in five research clusters. They combine advanced experimental platforms with computational tools to address questions relevant to health, the environment and industry.
Training the next generations of scientists
Training the next generations of scientists is one of our main goals. We accompany students from their undergraduate years to postdoctoral work, with four doctoral programs run jointly with Universidad San Sebastián, so that they can carry out independent research and take knowledge beyond the laboratory.
Science grows through collaboration
We connect research, advanced training and infrastructure across Chile and the world, sharing ideas, methods and experience that strengthen our collective capacity to address challenges in health, the environment and biotechnology.
From the laboratory to new companies
We connect research with science-based companies. Since 2006, our Science and Business Campus has hosted Chilean and international startups and has supported more than 15 biotechnology companies with mentoring, intellectual property, infrastructure and networks.
