1. Inflammation, Autoimmunity and Immune Intervention
Aims to elucidate key mechanisms of immune regulation across tissues in health and disease to identify biomarkers and targeted immunotherapies for inflammatory and autoimmune disorders.
Research excellence in the biological sciences
More than 300 investigators work at the Center in biomedicine, microbiology and computational biology, organized in five research clusters that collaborate with one another.
We seek to generate knowledge that leads to innovations addressing relevant social and economic challenges: inflammatory and autoimmune diseases, viral infections, cancer, neurodegeneration and fibrosis, microbial biotechnology, sustainable mining and data-driven health forecasting.

Aims to elucidate key mechanisms of immune regulation across tissues in health and disease to identify biomarkers and targeted immunotherapies for inflammatory and autoimmune disorders.

Aims to uncover the principles of viral pathogenesis, microbial adaptation, and biodiversity to advance solutions in infectious disease, sustainable mining, and microbe-based biotechnology.

Aims to define the molecular and cellular networks driving cancer progression and treatment response to develop biomarkers and next-generation therapies

Aims to identify the stress, neuroimmune, and fibrotic mechanisms underlying neurodegeneration and tissue damage to support the development of innovative therapeutic strategies.

Aims to build predictive computational frameworks linking molecular, cellular, and population-level data to accelerate biological discovery, as well as health nowcasting and forecasting.
Each laboratory is led by a principal investigator and works independently, in dialogue with the other research clusters and with access to shared platforms for microscopy, flow cytometry, animal facilities and computing.

A selection of recent publications from our five research clusters, many of them written with collaborators in Chile and abroad.
