EMBO Practical Course on Developmental Biology: From Cells to Neural Systems

Date
Thursday, January 7, 2027

About this event

From January 7 to 20, 2027, Quintay will host the EMBO Practical Course “Developmental Biology: From Cells to Neural Systems”, an international advanced training course that will bring together leading researchers in developmental biology, neurodevelopment and neuroscience.

The course will cover different model organisms, including Drosophila, birds, zebrafish and amphibians, to explore in depth the processes that explain how cells organise, differentiate and give rise to complex systems such as the nervous system.

The course will feature specialists from institutions in Chile, the United Kingdom, the United States, France, Germany and Austria, including Roberto Mayor, Nipam Patel, Claire Wyart, Elly Tanaka, Corinne Houart, Jeff Lichtman, Felipe Opazo, Fernando Bustos, Francisca Bronfman and Leonardo Valdivia, among others.

Organised by Roberto Mayor, Leonardo Valdivia, Fernando Faunes and Fernando Bustos, the course seeks to strengthen hands-on training and international scientific exchange around central questions in contemporary developmental biology, from cellular mechanisms to the formation and function of neural networks.

Applications are open until July 30, 2026. Applicants must send their CV, a personal statement and two letters of recommendation to dbquintay2012@gmail.com. Travel grants will be available.
