The agreement was signed on 26 de febrero de 2025 by Dr. Radwan Qasrawi, professor of Information and Communication Technologies Engineering at Al-Quds University, and Dr. Mario Rosemblatt, executive director of Fundacion Ciencia & Vida.

The project is part of efforts to improve public health in regions with structural challenges in their healthcare systems. Specifically, it will initially focus on Palestine and Jordan, aiming to develop innovative tools for the early identification of disease outbreaks and the optimization of the healthcare response.

Al-Quds University, recognized for its leadership in health research and medical technology, will coordinate the project. For its part, USS's Centro Ciencia & Vida will contribute its expertise in computational biology and epidemiological surveillance, ensuring the quality and effectiveness of the solutions developed.

In this regard, Dr. Rosemblatt points out that “this alliance with Al-Quds University allows us to put our expertise in computational biology and epidemiological surveillance at the service of global health. We believe that collaborative science and technology can make a difference in the early detection of infectious diseases, especially in regions facing structural challenges in their healthcare systems.”

The signed Memorandum of Understanding establishes a cooperation framework that will enable the implementation of the artificial intelligence-based digital health system.

Among the main objectives of this alliance are:

  • Development and evaluation of the AIMED system, which will enable early detection and the issuance of alerts for infectious diseases.

  • Integration of real-time data sources, such as medical records, health databases, social networks, and wearable monitoring devices.

  • Creation of predictive models based on advanced deep learning algorithms and natural language processing.

  • Support for public health decision-making, facilitating the efficient allocation of resources based on the evolution of epidemic outbreaks.

Al-Quds University will lead the system design, data collection and management, as well as the development of predictive models. Additionally, it will be responsible for evaluating and reporting on the project's progress.

For its part, Centro Ciencia & Vida will support the creation of communication strategies to engage key stakeholders in the health sector, provide academic resources, and participate in follow-up meetings to ensure the fulfillment of the project's objectives.

The agreement represents a significant step forward in the application of emerging technologies in public health. The combination of artificial intelligence, big data analysis, and advanced epidemiological strategies will not only improve disease detection in Palestine and Jordan, but also lay the groundwork for implementing these systems in other regions with similar healthcare challenges.

In this way, AIMED is part of the efforts carried out under the ECLIPSE project in Latin America and the implementation of its strategic pillars in other regions under the HFA (Health Forecasting Alliance) initiative.
