About this event

Dr. Soledad Matus, associate researcher at Centro Ciencia & Vida and professor at Universidad San Sebastián, will participate in the second edition of “Congreso Futuro Nueva Longevidad: Más años para ser humanos”, an event to be held on November 24 at the Teatro Municipal de Las Condes, Santiago.

The activity will bring together specialists from science, health, social sciences, and culture to reflect on one of the main challenges of population aging: how to live longer years, but also with greater well-being, autonomy, and quality of life.

On this occasion, Dr. Matus, who directs the Neurodegeneration Biology Laboratory at Universidad San Sebastián, will participate in the panel dedicated to healthy aging, which will address scientific advances in brain care, the prevention of neurodegenerative and cognitive diseases, and the factors that contribute to maintaining good health during old age.

The conversation will also feature the participation of Daniela Thumala, professor at Universidad de Chile and specialist in psychogerontology; Moisés Sandoval, sociologist and researcher at the Institute of Nutrition and Food Technology (INTA); and Andrea Slachevsky, researcher and specialist in neurology and neurosciences at Universidad de Chile.

Under the concept of Nueva Longevidad, the event proposes analyzing the gap between life expectancy and the years lived in good health, integrating scientific, social, and cultural perspectives. In addition, it will address the importance of preserving memory, intergenerational bonds, and experiences that contribute to the well-being of older adults.

The participation of Dr. Soledad Matus will bring scientific knowledge on neurodegeneration and brain aging closer to the public, contributing to the dialogue on the challenges of an increasingly longevous society.
